This wedding was what you could call a ‘Home Tie’. The Strathaven Hotel where Richard and Emily got married is literally 500 yards from my house and was the same hotel where my wife and I were married a few years ago. This was the first time I had photographed in this location and the feeling was a little bit strange to say the least.

The day started in Emily’s local hairdressers where she, her mum and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done. Then it was off to Emily’s house to finish off the preparations. Just before setting off the family had a quick toast using their own Quaichs which was a special moment.

Then it was off to the hotel. As with my wedding the weather wasn’t the best, with rain pretty much the order of the day. Mind you, Richard and Emily were great sports and we managed to get a few outside shots before retiring inside. As always Sheila and the team at the Strathaven Hotel were superb and everything ran like clockwork.
