Paul & Suzanne’s ‘Wee Crazies’

I absolutely love to photograph this family. This was the fourth time I’ve had the pleasure of their company and each time it’s great to see how the wee ones have grown in the year. Little Olivia isn’t so little anymore and the oldest Paul is nearly as tall as me, although that doesn’t really count for much ;)

We knocked it off with regards to the weather, it was a scorcher. As usual we started off inside for a few although the ‘wee crazies’ as mum Suzanne calls them, didn’t need any warming up at all, they were total naturals as usual. For the outdoor shots we headed to the nearby RSPB nature reserve and simply let the children run around having a good time. As usual it was a great day and I’m already looking forward to photographing them again next year :)

Here are my favourites from the shoot.

Conor

I can’t believe it’s been two years since I photographed David & Lesley’s wonderful wedding at Royal Musselburgh Golf Club. Fast forward two years and I was travelling out to Port Seton to photograph the newest member of their family, little Conor. Driving through a monsoon in the west I didn’t hold out much hope of any outside shots but the minute I reached the end of the M8 the skies cleared and I was met with gorgeous sunshine. What do they say, the sun always shines in the east? ;)

As for little Conor, he was an absolute star to photograph. We started off at a nearby secret garden, taking advantage of the warm weather and then finished off the shoot inside. All throughout proceedings little Conor was great fun and was a natural in front of the camera, just like his maw and paw ;)

Many thanks to David & Lesley who again made me feel so welcome. Here are my favourites from the shoot.

Howie

It was off to West Linton this time to photograph little Howie, who had only recently turned one. The weather was absolutely brilliant, with blazing sunshine and not a breath of wind. So that Howie could get used to me and the camera we started off inside Leigh and Graeme’s fabulous house which is set right on a green and next to the river running through West Linton. After a few shots inside we then headed out to the green and let Howie loose on the grass. He had a great time playing away and particularly loved being pulled around in his cart.

Many thanks to Leigh, Graeme and of course little Howie for an excellent shoot.

Isla

The best part of being a photographer, in my opinion, is that you get the chance to meet so many great people. This shoot was no different as I had the pleasure of meeting little Isla and her mum and dad Laura and Fraser. As usual I was made so welcome and simply enjoyed photographing  a very happy family.

The way I photograph children is to make them as comfortable as possible doing things they normally do and then just wait for their personalty to shine through. I didn’t have to wait long with little Isla however, she was full of smiles and great expressions right from the off which makes my job pretty easy. We had a very minor blip of 5 seconds of tears but I like to get these shots as well, after all, children don’t smile all the time do they ;)

Here are my favourites from the shoot.

Kate & Kara

Lanark is fast becoming my busiest town for shoots these days and this one of Kate, Kara and their mum and dad was another lovely day spent there. Although it was pretty sunny outside it wasn’t very warm so we started off inside with some relaxed portraits of the family. Once Kate and Kara were totally familiar with the camera we then headed out to finish off the shoot with the children hunting for Easter eggs and picking flowers.

Many thanks to Kate and Kara who were fantastic fun to photograph and also a massive thanks to mum and dad who made me feel so welcome in their home. I even managed to leave with an Easter egg courtesy of little Kara :)
