Jax
The last time I photographed little Jax he was 6 weeks old and tiny. One year later and he is totally different. One thing is for certain, he is going to be a very tall boy.
It was great fun to capture little Jax just being himself and having fun with mum and gran. He is such a great wee boy and I’m pretty sure once he’s on his feet he’ll be keeping everybody very busy 
Most of the shoot was done inside although we did finish off by braving the elements for a couple of final shots out in the snow. There was not one peep from Jax, even though it was freezing, as for me however….

Leave a commentDoug & Amanda at Oran Mor
For me a wedding is all about people and emotions. I see it as my job to try and capture a feeling of what the day was like through my photographs. There is nothing better than having the privilege of watching two soulmates pledging themselves to each other in front of all their family and friends. Doug and Amanda are pretty much the nicest people you’ll meet and you could see how happy everybody was on the day that they were getting married.
The day started for me at Hotel Du Vin, formerly 1 Devonshire Gardens with the bridal prep. It was such a relaxed morning with Amanda and her bridesmaids just enjoying the day and having a laugh. After I had managed to sneak a lift to the Oran Mor with the bridesmaids it was then on to the ceremony itself which was brilliant. The Oran Mor is a superb location and fitted in perfectly with Doug and Amanda’s personalities.
We then headed off to the Botanical Gardens for 10 minutes to brave the weather and get some quick bride and groom portraits. I loved seeing the faces of the commuters as Doug & Amanda headed back to the Oran Mor afterwards. There’s nothing that gets car horns going more than a bride and groom crossing over a very busy intersection at peak traffic time

Abbie
Imagine having a field with a pond and trees just out your back garden, that’s how lucky little Abbie is and I’m sure when she’s a bit older you’ll struggle to get her away from there. It was a great location to take photographs of Abbie and if the field wasn’t enough there was also a river right out the front door!
Abbie was great fun to photograph and made my life pretty easy with all of her smiles. Mind you, I did almost screw it up at one point by putting Abbie in her cot. She thought that meant bedtime and the bottom lip started to tremble. Just before the tears started I got one frame and then Abbie was out of her cot again. Lesson learned

Sammy & Zach
This was another Strathaven shoot for me. This time it was brother and sister Zach and Sammy. We started off inside for a few shots then we headed out to a nearby park. I hadn’t realised just how cold it was however so hats off to the children for running around having fun for so long. My hands had long given up the ghost before Sammy and Zach.

Young Pierce was great fun to photograph, and although he wasn’t walking yet, I don’t think he’s that far away. He was always trying to push himself up and even though he’s only 6 months old, I think mum and dad will be chasing him around the house shortly
My style of photography is to try to capture a child’s personality and the best way I think I can do that is when the child is comfortable. A good start is when they are in an environment which is totally natural to them. For me there is no better place to start than in the child’s home. There was lots of nice natural light streaming in through the windows which made my life pretty easy, especially when you have a personality such as Pierce in front of the camera. When you have a relaxed child, nice light and a half decent camera, you can make some nice photographs
