Pearl Jam

A trip to Manchester

The last time I was down in Manchester a couple of years ago I had to the pleasure of photographing Ben, Sam and Will. This time around I brought together a trip to see the mighty Pearl Jam live at the Manchester Arena with the opportunity to shoot a few portrait sessions as well. Over the three days I was down I shot 5 sessions in total. Rather than blog each session individually I thought I’d combine them all into this one blog, mainly because I’m a bit of a lazy git ;) So let’s start off with the first session which was little James, on probably one of the wettest days of the year so far.

As the weather was Scotland-esque we had to capture James indoors. He was on top form however and made my life pretty easy with all of his different expressions.

Next up we had Jack and Lucy who were ever so slightly older than little James but equally as much fun. As they were a bit older we had to chance to try out a few different looks with some different lighting which is always fun to do and we even managed to dodge the rain and get outside for a few shots as well. Bonus :)

In the afternoon it was off to photograph our good friends’ boys Ben and Sam again. It’s fair to say they’ve changed quite a bit since last time and I’m sure Ben will be taller than me next time we see each other, although that wouldn’t be too hard ;) As always they were great fun and it was brilliant to meet up with mum and dad again.

Onto my last day down, which was the Sunday. The weather had been not too bad on the Saturday and it was exactly the same for the Sunday. My morning shoot was with brothers Lucas and Ethan. We started off inside, just so the boys could get used to the baldy guy with the funny accent and camera and then we ventured out to the park and let the boys just be themselves and run around having fun. It was a great way to spend a Sunday morning :)

5th and final shoot and it was back to see Will again. Again there was a big difference since the last time I saw him. One thing hadn’t changed however, he was still super cool and even more so since his team won the Premier League ;) Mind you, I don’t think Will has enough City stuff in his room. I’m pretty sure there was a tiny space in the corner that didn’t have any light blue in it :)

So there it was. Three days, five great families, Pearl Jam concert, Wired gig, pub to watch Germany beat Greece and a couple of Burger King meals as well. It just doesn’t get any better than that :)
